Welcome to the web site of the Canadian Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (CAFPRS). We are almost halfway through the first decade of the 21st century.
Over the last decade, there have been great medical advancements in the treatment and knowledge of improving facial features.
The hallmark of this century is to slow the aging process and change abnormal deformities to fit the current thinking so that patients end up being more confident and enjoy their life and lifestyles better.
"Minimal invasive surgical procedures" are demanded by our patients now. Medical science has responded by developing new concepts such is ThermaCool by Thermage and Aptos threads which is essentially suture material.
They can be nicely inserted under the skin to lift cheek mounds, lift lateral brows, and newer versions can even help pullback jowls.
However, these procedures do not replace the necessity for surgery but can treat very effectively for early problems that do occur in the 35 to 45-year-olds and those patients that have had previous surgery.
Skin care treatments have been another advancement.
As we age, our collagen fragments, our skin becomes blotchy brown, and the appearance of red blood vessels becomes more obvious and our faces can become redder.
Photo-facials is defined as the application of light from a laser or a very bright light that can effectively treat brown spots and red blood vessels.
There can be actually smoothing of the collagen is well.
These non-ablative technologies have minimal downtime if any, but do need multiple treatments to effectively get a result. Inquire today for a member of CAFPRS closest to you and get the latest information on these technologies.
